Cherryville barely beat Highland Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ironmen were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Rams on Wednesday. The Ironmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
Brock Bumgardner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cherryville let Chandler Wooten and Talon Dalton run wild. Wooten went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Dalton went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Dalton has posted since back in March. Parker Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cherryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Tech only posted an OBP of .333.
Cherryville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Highland Tech, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
