On Wednesday, everything went Pomona's's way against Gateway as Pomona made off with a 44-18 win. That 44-18 margin sets a new team best for Pomona this season.
Pomona's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendra Ritzmann led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Teagan Anna, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Pomona and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Gateway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pomona will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on D'Evelyn at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. D'Evelyn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pomona in Colorado (D'Evelyn is ranked 12th, while Pomona is ranked 126th). Gateway will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northglenn at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
