The New Richmond Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blanchester. If New Richmond hoped to take revenge for the 36-24 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
New Richmond lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydney Miller, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Kirk, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, New Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
New Richmond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Blanchester, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Richmond will take on Wyoming at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyoming presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Richmond in Ohio (Wyoming is ranked 235th, while New Richmond is ranked 633rd). As for Blanchester, they will be playing at home against Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Georgetown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
