The Elverado Falcons will take on the Benton Rangers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elverado took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Cobden get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Appleknockers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Benton came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Herrin 13-3 on Thursday.
Avery Thomas (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Webb (2027), who fired off two home runs, five runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted five RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Taylor Ray-McGuire (2027) was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Benton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herrin only posted an OBP of .375.
Elverado pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Benton, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Elverado came up short against Benton when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
