If the Paulding Panthers were feeling good off their 54-14 takedown of the Continental Pirates last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Paulding was beaten by Ottoville 66-36 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Paulding can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Ottoville is ranked 113th).
Paulding's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucy Breier, who scored six points. Estie Pease was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
Paulding has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Ottoville, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.
Paulding will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Tinora at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Paulding focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday. As for Ottoville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty-Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
