The Waterloo East Trojans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 54-22 loss at the hands of Decorah-North Winneshiek. Waterloo East has struggled against Decorah-North Winneshiek recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Waterloo East's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Clark, who picked up 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ahdan Muhammad also helped out as he racked up 124 receiving yards.
Waterloo East's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.2 points per game. As for Decorah-North Winneshiek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Waterloo East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Decorah-North Winneshiek will head out on the road to face off against North Scott at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Scott is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
