The Xaverian Brothers Hawks will head out to take on the Bishop Feehan Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Xaverian Brothers is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: St. John's, who was ranked first at the time (Xaverian Brothers was ranked fifth). The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pioneers on Monday, sneaking past 10-9. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three games in a row.
Paul McCarthy tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Morse was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Will Curley also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Bishop Feehan waltzed into their match on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Hawks. That's two games straight that the Shamrocks have won by just one run.
Gavin O'Toole looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Randen May was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Shute, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Bishop Feehan's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Xaverian Brothers, their record is now 14-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Xaverian Brothers has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bishop Feehan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
