Basketball Recap: Southern Nash Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jaden Hartsfield and George Richardson

Southern Nash lost against Roanoke Rapids back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southern Nash Firebirds fell 55-44 to the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

George Richardson and Jaden Hartsfield certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Richardson went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds, while Hartsfield went 5 for 10 en route to 16 points and three steals. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kwamaine Battle, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Southern Nash smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Quentez Richardson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Roanoke Rapids, putting up 15 points along with seven assists and five boards. Khamauri Wood was another key player, earning 11 points and three steals.

Southern Nash now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Roanoke Rapids, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Southern Nash didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-50 loss against Franklinton on the 30th. Roanoke Rapids has also already played their next contest, a 73-50 victory against Nash Central on the 29th.
