Calvary Christian Academy lost against Providence Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-36 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Calvary Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Xavier Young scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Gillespie (HS), who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
It was another big night for Bryce Unruh, who shot 4-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten steals for Providence Christian Academy. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Unruh has scored at least 25% of Providence Christian Academy's points. Semaj Parker was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Calvary Christian Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 13-6 record last season and are now at 0-4. As for Providence Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Calvary Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Salisbury Christian at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. Salisbury Christian is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Providence Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on The Gunston School at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
