The Smith Academy Fighting 54th will head out on the road to face off against the Anderson Prep Academy Jets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smith Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Anderson Prep Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Smith Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Pierceton Woods Academy 55-20 on the road. The win was just what Smith Academy needed coming off of a 67-23 loss in their prior match.
Anderson Prep Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a tough 67-41 loss at the hands of Tri-Central. Anderson Prep Academy has not had much luck with Tri-Central recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Markus Mcclain, who scored seven points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Fathauer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Smith Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Anderson Prep Academy, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Smith Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Anderson Prep Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 48-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smith Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
