After seven games on the road, Eagle Valley is heading back home. The Eagle Valley Devils and the Fruita Monument Wildcats will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, everything went Eagle Valley's way against Middle Park as Eagle Valley made off with a 47-24 win.
Eagle Valley can attribute much of their success to Josie Fitzsimmons, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Fitzsimmons set a new season high mark in assists with five. Zakia Shreeve was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Fruita Monument got the win against Palisade on Saturday by a conclusive 50-29. The victory was just what Fruita Monument needed coming off of a 63-42 loss in their prior game.
The victory got Eagle Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Fruita Monument, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Eagle Valley was taken down by Fruita Monument 55-10 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. Thankfully for Eagle Valley, Callie Allen (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
