It was a good run, but the Grand Valley Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. The game between Grand Valley and Meeker wasn't particularly close, with Grand Valley falling 65-50. While losing is never fun, Grand Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Meeker is ranked 72nd).
Andrew Horner and Ben Crowhurst certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Horner scored 13 points, while Crowhurst scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crowhurst has scored all season. Michael Fredrich was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Jace Mobley, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Meeker. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Sullivan, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Grand Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Meeker, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Valley will take on Aspen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aspen is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games. As for Meeker, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Fork at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. North Fork is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
