The McKinleyville Panthers won the last time they faced the Red Bluff Spartans, and things went their way on Friday too. McKinleyville strolled past Red Bluff with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. Given McKinleyville's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Red Bluff is ranked 668th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McKinleyville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bode Douglass, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Flynn Creighton, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Eli Hohenberger and Ryan Ross certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hohenberger dropped a double-double on 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Ross scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds. Hohenberger scored a full 45.1% of Red Bluff's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
McKinleyville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Red Bluff, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
McKinleyville is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fortuna at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. As for Red Bluff, they will challenge Orland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
