El Segundo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Hamilton Yankees in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at.
Last Wednesday, El Segundo was the victim of a rough 69-46 loss at the hands of North. While losing is never fun, El Segundo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while North is ranked 46th).
Hamilton can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 59-50 win over South East. The victory was just what Hamilton needed coming off of a 59-36 defeat in their prior game.
Hamilton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Demaije May, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Chinonso Njoku, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. May continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rhys Nelson, who scored eight points.
El Segundo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Hamilton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
El Segundo strolled past Hamilton in their previous matchup back in January of 2018 by a score of 52-36. Will El Segundo repeat their success, or does Hamilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
