Given Riverdale's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Academy of Our Lady is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikeya Allen, who scored nine points. Mazie Parmley was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Riverdale's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Academy of Our Lady, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Riverdale's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Martin's Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Academy of Our Lady and Reed will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
