The La Vernia Bears extended their postseason success on Friday against the Boerne Greyhounds. They came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 42-31. The win was familiar territory for La Vernia who now have six in a row.
La Vernia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keegan Hajek, who rushed for 49 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Schmid, who gained 170 total yards.
Adam Hicks and Jaxon Baize certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hicks rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns, while Baize rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Boerne's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: La Vernia's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Carlos Moreno requena was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
La Vernia pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.7 points per game. As for Boerne, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
La Vernia will face off against Davenport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davenport will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Boerne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
