Ava McMahon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pittsfield got a massive performance out of Ella Bassi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Bassi has posted since back in April. Paxton Ebling was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittsfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mount Anthony strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Hartford a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Mount Anthony pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsfield, their record now sits at 6-7.
Pittsfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Anthony in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
