Section 9 C-II recap Sept. 26, 2012
Fallsburg's Shakree Gibson recorded the longest rushing play in Section 9 C-II this season in his game against Sullivan West last week. Gibson ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 139 on the day as his team lost to the Bulldogs.
Millbrook moved up to 293 from 414 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Blazers climbed the ranks as a result of a 47-18 win over Burke Catholic.
Sawyer Erlwein put up the best numbers through the air as Sullivan West beat Fallsburg. He finished with a total of two completions for 27 yards and two touchdowns. Erlwein's favorite target this week was Cody Franskevicz, who caught one pass for 25 yards.
Henry Cardinal was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 175 yards as Millbrook defeated the Eagles. Teammate Brad Pitz added to the ground attack by rushing for 148 yards.
Chris Carolei made the biggest impact on defense this week as Sean Keenan's team bested Burke Catholic. The sophomore racked up one sack.
Daley was the best wideout in Section 9 C-II this week as the Blazers topped Ed Van Curen Jr's team. Daley tallied one reception for 48 yards. David Olivera helped Millbrook's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Joshua Carter of Adam Ramirez's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 155. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, Millbrook's Cardinal has rushed for 529 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Daley. The Millbrook star has three catches for 96 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tri-Valley takes on the Comets. The Bears are in second place, while Fallsburg is in fourth place.
The Bulldogs extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Comets, 59-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
