The Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Thursday. They snuck past Lamar with a 68-64 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Noonan, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Noonan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Lane Miller was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, Lamar were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Central Arkansas Christian pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Lamar, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Arkansas Christian will take on Mayflower at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mayflower will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Central Arkansas Christian is ranked 38th). As for Lamar, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Atkins at 7:00 a.m. on January 30th.
