The Annandale Atoms's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 64-42 defeat at the hands of Fairfax. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Annandale in their matchups with Fairfax: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Annandale saw an underclassman step up: Ava Sewall scored 19 points. The matchup was Sewall's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Susan Aburish , who scored eight points.
Annandale's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Fairfax, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Annandale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Osbourn at 1:00 p.m. on December 27th. Osbourn's defense has only allowed 23.7 points per game this season, so Annandale's offense will have their work cut out for Annandale. Fairfax will be home for the holidays to greet Alexandria City at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
