After a string of four wins, the Mosley Dolphins's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Walton. Mosley has struggled against South Walton recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Mosley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Eli Mcfatter. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcfatter has scored all season. Cash Zirkle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Mosley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as South Walton pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Brock Ward continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Walton, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ward pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carson Hawk, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Mosley's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for South Walton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mosley will take on Escambia at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Escambia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 409th, while Mosley is ranked 199th). South Walton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Choctawhatchee at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Choctawhatchee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Wednesday.
