The Commerce Tigers lost against the Athens Christian Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Commerce took a serious blow against Athens Christian, falling 81-45. Commerce has not had much luck with Athens Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Commerce saw an underclassman step up: Jayla Collins almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Collins scored 15 or more points. Jayah vann was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Athens Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Commerce will be playing in front of their home fans against Rabun County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rabun County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 556 points over their last eight matches. Athens Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
