If the Pine View Panthers were feeling good off their 45-15 takedown of the Hillcrest Huskies on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pine View was beaten by Kanab 71-42 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Pine View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Kanab is ranked 13th).
Despite the loss, Pine View saw an underclassman step up: Reese Gustin scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Gustin scored a full 35.7% of Pine View's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Casey Morley was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Pine View now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Kanab, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Pine View and Hunter will face off at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kanab is on the road again on Saturday and play against Carbon at 5:00 p.m. on December 9th. Carbon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59 points per game.
