It was a good run, but the Tri-Valley Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mahanoy Area. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (55), Tri-Valley still had to take the loss.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Porter, who scored 16 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Porter has scored all season. Luke Wehry was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Tri-Valley's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-1. As for Mahanoy Area, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will take on Kutztown at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kutztown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 657th, while Tri-Valley is ranked 83rd). As for Mahanoy Area, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Notre Dame at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Notre Dame is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
