Baseball Recap: Grissom Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grissom had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Gulf Shores Dolphins. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Grissom let Josh Burrell and Zach Shipp run wild. Burrell scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Shipp went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave Shipp a new career-high in RBI. Griffin Grigsby was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Grissom's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Gulf Shores, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Grissom will challenge Lincoln County at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Grissom 3.3, Lincoln County 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Gulf Shores, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Gulf Shores surely won't give up without a fight.
