Cory-Rawson hasn't had much luck against Perry recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Fighting Hornets will challenge the Commodores at 5:00 p.m. Cory-Rawson will be strutting in after a victory while Perry will be coming in after a defeat.
Cory-Rawson took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Waynesfield-Goshen 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Fighting Hornets as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Wesley Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Austin Inbody was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cain Kueneke also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Jackson Center hit Perry with a eight-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Commodores took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Wesley Woods put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Colten Scott was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Taviano, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Perry's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Cory-Rawson, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cory-Rawson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cory-Rawson suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Perry when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Fighting Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
