Baseball Recap: Richmond Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Richmond had won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 10-0 to make it 13. They blew past the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls 10-0. Considering the Bobcats have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Alexander made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kenny Mecham and Jacob Gay did most of the damage at the plate: Mecham went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Gay went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gay has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Harrington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Richmond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

As for Old Orchard Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3. The contest marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Old Orchard Beach's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wesley Gallant, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Old Orchard Beach will be playing in front of their home fans against Traip at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Richmond will be paying especially close attention to the Seagulls' game: after the Seagulls face off against the Rangers, they'll take on Richmond again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
