After a string of 12 wins, El Capitan/Centennial Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Milford. El Capitan/Centennial Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Milford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Hammon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jairus Hammon was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Kielen Tsosie was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds for Milford. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadler Barnes, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Milford, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan/Centennial Academy will take on Seligman at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Seligman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 233 points over their last three matchups. As for Milford, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Piute at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
