Even though the Pike County Bulldogs have not done well against the Opp Bobcats recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pike County put the hurt on Opp with a sharp 59-37 win. Given Pike County's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Opp is ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reed Adams and Alan Jones certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Adams scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, while Jones scored seven points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him.
Pike County's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Opp, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Pike County will head out on the road to face off against Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Opp won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Andalusia at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Andalusia is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
