Mater Dei and Nashville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Mater Dei Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Nashville Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Dei is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Mater Dei suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 78-45 loss at the hands of St. Anthony. Mater Dei was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.
The losing side was boosted by Nick Lampe, who scored 17 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliott Rakers, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Nashville proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 35) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Carbondale out 58-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nashville.
Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Nashville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Mater Dei didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Nashville in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-50 victory. Will Mater Dei repeat their success, or does Nashville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
