The Saint Gertrude Gators will head out to challenge the St. Catherine's Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saint Gertrude has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Thursday, Saint Gertrude came up short against Trinity Episcopal and fell 11-7.
Campbell Kincaid made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, St. Catherine's entered their tilt with Trinity Episcopal on Monday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Titans. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Saints considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Kinnady Branch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, St. Catherine's let Izzy Viruet and Day Vetter run wild. Viruet went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Vetter went 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jordan Morey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
St. Catherine's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Episcopal only managed eight hits.
St. Catherine's pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Gertrude, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Saint Gertrude suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to St. Catherine's in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
