The Tolman Tigers entered their tilt with the Middletown Islanders with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Tolman came out on top against Middletown by a score of 55-47 on Friday. Given Tolman's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Middletown is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tolman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Saulsby, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Saulsby is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malik Gelinas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Tolman pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Middletown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tolman will take on Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Middletown, they will be playing at home against Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
