If the Elmira Express were feeling good off their 53-25 takedown of the Corning-Painted Post Hawks last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Elmira took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Horseheads. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elmira in their matchups with Horseheads: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Express players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison Taft, who scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taft has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Meya Smith, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Elmira's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Horseheads, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmira's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Edison at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Horseheads will take on Sidney at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
