Rock Canyon is 8-0 against the Mustangs since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rock Canyon Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Ponderosa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of seven wins, Rock Canyon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 67-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Vista.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Macoy Terry and Cal Baskind. Baskind had a great game and scored 16 points along with three steals. Meanwhile, Terry was balling out in the loss, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Ponderosa has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a rough 54-32 loss at the hands of Chaparral on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ponderosa has scored all season.
Rock Canyon's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4. As for Ponderosa, they dropped their record down to 13-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Rock Canyon against the Mustangs in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 72-43 win. Will Rock Canyon repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
