Matanzas has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Oakleaf Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakleaf took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Matanzas, who comes in off a win.
Even though Flagler Palm Coast scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, Matanzas still came out on top. Matanzas walked away with a 72-62 victory over Flagler Palm Coast.
Matanzas can attribute much of their success to Henry Robinson Jr., who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Rya'sir Jefferson, who scored 28 points along with seven assists and five steals. Robinson Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Murray, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Oakleaf's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Oakleaf came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while University Christian is ranked 303rd).
Matanzas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Oakleaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
