Porter Ridge is 6-0 against Cuthbertson since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Porter Ridge Pirates will be playing at home against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Porter Ridge and ten for Cuthbertson.
Porter Ridge suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Carmel Christian 85-51. While losing is never fun, Porter Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Carmel Christian is ranked 69th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Garrett Cox, who scored 11 points. Rai'shawn Elmore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cuthbertson pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Weddington on the road and fell 87-56. Cuthbertson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-22.
Porter Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Cuthbertson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-13.
Porter Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cuthbertson when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win.
