It was a good run, but the Sumner Stingrays unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to Robinson. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (64), Sumner still had to take the loss.
Sumner's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Jacob Douglas who scored 15 points along with six assists and two steals. Douglas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Devin Baker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Robinson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaJesse Harrold, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harrold has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Russell, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Sumner's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Robinson, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7.
Sumner won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Brandon at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Brandon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Robinson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Steinbrenner at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Steinbrenner will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Robinson is ranked 262nd).
