There's no place like home for the Pueblo East Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past Pueblo County with a 60-56 win on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pueblo East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izaiah Trujillo led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Maddox Villafon, who scored 15 points.
Lowry Kirkland and Dominic Mauro certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kirkland scored 16 points, while Mauro scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Barger, who scored six points.
Pueblo East's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Pueblo County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo East will take on Pueblo Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pueblo Centennial is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Pueblo County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pueblo West's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
