The Greeley West Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They fell 45-33 to Greeley Central. Greeley West found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 25% worse than the opposition.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Itzel Guidry, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Guidry has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paige Rupple, who scored 14 points.
Madison Sepeda was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven steals and six assists for Greeley Central. Sepeda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rory Weizenegger, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Greeley West dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Greeley Central, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15.
Greeley West will square off against Longmont at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greeley West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday.
