Several Apollos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Da'Andre Williams, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Kunye Ward was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Madison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joe Whylie led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anthony Avalos, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Sharpstown has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Madison, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.
Sharpstown will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sterling at 7:30 p.m. Averaging 70.5 so far this season, Sterling's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Sharpstown better be ready for a challenge. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to challenge Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Austin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1127th, while Madison is ranked 334th).
