Bayshore entered their game against Boca Ciega on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bruins took a 19-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Bruins lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-0 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Bayshore lost, don't look at Jaydis Wiley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 72 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also threw for 195 yards and one touchdown. 90 of those passing yards were hauled in by Camdon Stancil.

While Bayshore came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Boca Ciega: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Kary Alexis, Imari Thomas, and Xavier Austin, who each logged two passes deflected. Jamari Sanders was his usual excellent self, rushing for 190 yards and one score while picking up 7.0 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown for Boca Ciega. With that strong performance, Sanders is now averaging an impressive 110.7 rushing yards per game.

Bayshore suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Boca Ciega, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayshore will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gibbs at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Boca Ciega, they will face off against Palm Harbor University at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Sanders and Ben Sathaporn.
