Black River hasn't had much luck against Keystone recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Black River's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
On Saturday, Black River made easy work of Smithville and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Smithies: they've now won three in a row.
Rebekah Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Black River got a massive performance out of Jenna Dieter, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Dieter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Rosales, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Dieter wasn't the only one making solid contact: Black River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Keystone lost 18-4 to Hillsdale on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.
Jordan Owca made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
The victory got Black River back to even at 4-4. As for Keystone, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Keystone's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Black River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. It's a different story for Keystone, though, as they've only averaged .323. Will they be able to contain Black River's hitters?
Black River suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Keystone when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
