Towanda is 0-10 against the Wildcats since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Towanda Black Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Athens Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Towanda is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Even though Towanda has not done well against the Rams recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Towanda walked away with a 55-44 win over the Rams. That looming 55-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Towanda yet this season.
Meanwhile, Athens was beaten by the Trojans 77-47 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Athens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Trojans are ranked 68th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Korey Miller, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Connor Mosher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Towanda's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Athens, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.
Towanda couldn't quite finish off the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January and fell 62-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mosher, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Now that Towanda knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
