After both having extra time off, the Oakridge Owls and the Hockaday Daisies will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Oakridge sitting on eight straight victories and Hockaday on four.
Oakridge took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Trinity Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Owls skirted past the Trojans 3-2. The game was the first time the Owls have beaten the Trojans on their court since September 22, 2016.
Oakridge wouldn't go down easily and took Trinity Valley into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 24-26, 27-29, 25-18, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Hockaday got the win against Greenhill on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
While Hockaday won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 28-26, 25-20.
Oakridge better focus on containing Emily Boomstra and Lily Navitskas as the pair were huge in Hockaday's win. Boomstra had ten digs and three aces, while Navitskas had six kills, five digs, and one block. That's the most digs Navitskas has posted since back in September.
Oakridge's record is now 22-2. As for Hockaday, their record now sits at 21-17.
Oakridge might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Hockaday when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
