The Perry Panthers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Burke County Bears at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Perry humbled West Laurens with a 55-7 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-7.
Perry found their leader in underclassman Corrion Daniels, who rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Daniels' longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Dakarai Anderson, who gained 70 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Burke County took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-14 win over Southeast Bulloch. Burke County's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burke County to victory, but perhaps none more so than A'merre Williams, who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Vandiver, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Perry has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points per game. As for Burke County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
