The James Kenan Tigers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-22 loss at the hands of East Duplin. It was the first time this season that James Kenan let down their fans at home.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Gabriel Outlaw and
Mar'Keshia Strong, who each put up five points.
Latonia Mason held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Duplin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zakoya Farrior, who scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Farrior scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Cave, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
James Kenan's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for East Duplin, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Kenan will take on North Lenoir at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Lenoir has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for East Duplin, they will be playing at home against Swansboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Swansboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 307th, while East Duplin is ranked 78th).
