It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Gainesville Cardinals can now relate to. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-26 walloping at the hands of Colonial Forge on Friday. Gainesville's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Gainesville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Kilmer, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 296 yards and a touchdown. Aidan McClafferty was another key contributor, picking up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Colonial Forge, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Gainesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Colonial Forge will face off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Freedom is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
