Volleyball Recap: Andrean Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hanover Central, Andrean was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Kankakee Valley Kougars by a score of 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Fighting 59ers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Andrean had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.

Dani Poskin went supernova, getting 33 digs and two aces. Those 33 digs gave her a new career-high. Laloni Staten also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Andrean was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Kankakee Valley still got an impressive performance from Peyton Mills, who had seven digs and five aces.

Andrean's record is now 2-6. As for Kankakee Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Andrean wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Barr-Reeve on the 30th. As for Kankakee Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Lowell on the 2nd.
