Jordan Ratermann of Mater Dei ran for the longest rushing play in Freelance this season against Lift for Life Academy last week. Ratermann's team beat Lift for Life Academy as he sprinted for 60 yards on the play and finished with 208 in all.
Lake Forest Academy moved up to 219 from 260 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Caxys climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-26 win over De La Salle.
Mater Dei's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike Martz threw for 104 and two touchdowns and Logan Gerstner had 54 yards receiving. Nick Hitpas helped Mater Dei's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Martz and Ratermann Jim Stiebel's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Martz leads the league in passing with 873 yards, while Ratermann has rushed for 548 yards this season. Mt. Carmel's Levi Laws leads the league in receiving yards with 547 on 25 catches.
The Knights were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, Mater Dei defeated Rory Seals's team 35-6.
