The Marksville Tigers lost against the Alexandria Trojans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Marksville ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-42 walloping at the hands of Alexandria. Marksville has struggled against Alexandria recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Alexandria's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylin Johnson led the charge by scoring 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chavez Whitehead, who scored 14 points.
Marksville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Alexandria, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Marksville will be home for the holidays to greet Avoyelles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Avoyelles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Marksville is ranked 92nd). Alexandria won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Lakeview is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
